One of our most popular requests is for location recommendations along the Surf Coast for our elopement ceremonies as well as portraits opportunities. We always recommend picking a spot that is meaningful to you in some way, but just going purely off sheer beauty, here’s our top locations for your Surf Coast elopement:
Urquhart’s Bluff
A lovely, more quiet beach than Torquay and surrounds. Just a short scenic drive past Airey’s Inlet and you’ll find this gem. Particularly epic at low tide, where you can walk along the rocky areas and get some pretty incredible photos. We recently had a couple say I do’s on the beach, get some photos in the rocks and then drive to The Coast for dinner (the third pic was a cute lil spot inside The Coast). Ripper.
Point Addis
A crowd favourite for sure. There’s plenty of options on both sides of the point for ceremonies up high in the cliffs or down on the beach. It gets super hectic on weekends and school holidays, but if you’re rocking an elopement with us then you’ll avoid those times anyways! Again, low tide is a winner. So is the walk to the clifftop!
Lorne
There’s plenty of options for eloping in Lorne, Victoria. You can’t go past The Peak for an epic landscape overlooking Lorne from above, with views out to the point. We have a package with The Peak, so get in touch for more details!
Although the ‘Surf Coast’ stops at Lorne technically, let’s keep going down the Great Ocean Road, shall we?!
Sheoak Falls
A short-ish walk from the car park will get you to one of the best waterfalls you’ll see in Vic. A massive rock wall encapsulates the decked lookout area and it’s breathtakingly beautiful on the walk too. Best to avoid busy times so that you can have all the goodness to yourself, as this spot can’t be booked out/reserved and it’s open to public access anytime.
Wye River
Ahhhhh Wye River. We bloody love it down here. Such a cute little township and home to the incredible Wye Beach Hotel (the pub!). You’ll feel like you’re on holidays wayyy down the coast, when it’s only a 90-minute drive from Geelong. We have a collab with the WBH, so get in touch and we can let you know how we roll! Fi (the manager there) is one of the best peeps you’ll meet and she’ll make you feel as special as you deserve in the celebration of your marriage.
Apollo Bay
Trek a litttttttle bit further down the coast (although it’s quicker to go through Colac if coming from Geelong!) and you’ll find the cruisy town of Apollo Bay. The main strip has all the food & drink you’ll need, but the magic is in the landscapes surrounding the township. Marriner’s Lookout is amazing, as is Paradise Picnic Reserve. Perfect place to get married and then stay down there for a getaway!
Make sure you check with the relevant councils if you need a permit for these incredible locations (various factors may influence this).
