How to Elope in Victoria: Our Simple Process

Eloping made easy, from first hello to legally loved up

Wondering how to elope in Victoria? Here’s exactly how it works. Seven simple steps, zero stress, and a team who handles the details so you can focus on the good part: marrying your favourite person.

Chat it out with us

It all starts with a quick hello through our contact page. No plans needed, just bring your love and we’ll sort the rest. We’re here to help you create a day that is intentionally ‘you’, and we have SO many ideas if you’re stuck on what to do. But ultimately, we are here to listen, offer advice and bring your vision to life.

You can set up a video call with Jessie for an obligation-free initial chat to see if you dig what we do. She loves to chat all things elopements, micro-weddings and love, and she knows the elopement industry inside out. So even if you don’t know where to start, she will.

Lock it in, Eddy

You’re keen to proceed?! WOO YEAHHHHH. I mean, ahem – it’s fantastic to have you on board. First up, you choose which package you’d like, we assign a celebrant and photographer team for your elopement date and we send you a contract and invoice to pay your booking fee to secure your team and your date. Let us know how and where you would like to celebrate, and we’ll be there with bells on!

You can choose to make your day even easier with our additional packages and we will organise it all for you so you can rock up and love yourselves sick for making this whole eloping thing enjoyable and stress-free!

Planning your day

First of all, we’ll send you a bunch of info to get you started on your plans. You’ll then meet with Jessie (owner/organiser/fun starter/ oh and an authorised celebrant!) in person or over video call to plan your elopement and organise the legal side of things (all that important stuff to get you legally hitched), run through your elopement plans, put a timeline together for you and write your ceremony script. She’ll then prep your elopement team so they’re ready to go. You can reach out to Jessie anytime throughout your planning process, she is here for you all the way.

We’ll introduce you to your team over email and you have the option to jump on a video call with them before the big day.

Then on the day, your team will rock it and you’ll enjoy every moment. Promise.

The legal stuff

In order to legally marry in Australia, you’ll need to lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage with an authorised celebrant (luckily we have four team members equipped with this important title) at least 30 days prior to your elopement. Once you book with us, we will guide you through this process to make it as easy as possible for you. Your celebrant will just need to sight a lil bit of identification (passports or birth certificates and photo ID), any evidence of divorce etc if applicable, a scribbling of signatures and a sprinkling of commitment from you two.

Here is some important information around getting married in Australia.

Something to keep in mind, you’ll also need two witnesses on the day who are over the age of 18 to sign the marriage certificates (one of which can be your photographer and we can arrange another witness to be there if you aren’t having any guests), so we can chat through options with you.

Your celebrant will provide 3 x official marriage certificates to sign on the day (they even bring a pen!), you’ll get to take a commemorative certificate home with you and your celebrant will lodge your marriage with the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages after the day, and apply for your Official Marriage Certificate to be sent to your address once registered if you choose that option.

Let’s Elope!

The big day will swing around, and we’ll have a grand old time. Promise. Rain, hail or shine – let’s embrace the special occasion of your love. The ceremony happens, then pretty photos happen. The rest is up to you!

Receive your pics. Woo!

You’ll receive a sneak peek gallery within 48 hours of your elopement. We’ll send your pics through an online gallery link within 4-6 weeks. Share them wherever you’d like and we even have a print store option for you to buy prints so you can treasure those mems forever.

We’d love to share your day online too (we totally respect the choice for you to keep your images private) so that we can find more awesome couples just like you. And if you’re so kind as to leave us a glowing review we will be tickled pink!

Send your friends

We love nothing more than to hang out with our past couples again so the easiest way for us to see you again is if you tell your friends to elope with us and you can be an honoured guest this time. It’s a win/win for everybody!
